I DREAM OF HAVING A BEST SELLING MEMOIR

Helping others through poetry and public speaking

From a young age, my mind soared with creative thoughts.  As the world around me was often coming apart, I was in my head creating stories and living a different life through using visualization techniques and storytelling.   This tool that I developed became a big part of my life, and putting pen to paper became my medicine.

I started writing poems to my mom at the age of nine to help brighten her day when she was down.  I told stories at school to change my not-so-happy life into a fantasy that everyone wanted.

At the age of ten, an English teacher told me my writing was terrible, and success was not in my future.  The comment stayed with me for a long time, but my mind and hand would not stop.  Only I would not share my writing with anyone in fear that it would not be good enough.

My path led me to the profession of hotel marketing, where I found myself volunteering to write the content for brochures and websites. Once again it sparked my love for creative writing, but I was still reluctant to venture out.

At the age of fifty, I decided to change careers but was unsure of the path to take so I took a writing class for fun.  During the course, my mind took over, and before I knew it, I had written a book.  I never set out to write a book, but I could not stop what was inside of me.

The poems surfaced again and started coming to me at random times.  In the middle of the night, in spin class, while driving but mostly when my emotions were getting the best of me. My hand would start writing, and the thoughts would find their way on paper in a rhythmic vibe that calmed my mind.

Now I venture out to share my work, still vulnerable and unsure but ready to share my words and thought in hopes to inspire others to free their mind through the gift of putting pen to paper.
